As we age, the support structures of our face begin to slacken. This allows the skin and muscles to sag, creating the wrinkles, lines, and areas of volume loss that make us look older. A surgical facelift has traditionally been the only way to address this overall drooping of our face, but they’ve always had two serious drawbacks: the costs and the extensive recovery that is required.
Now we offer a non-invasive, in-office alternative — the Y Lift. The Y Lift restores the facial contours of a younger look without any surgery or downtime. FNP. Ginsberg can perform a Y Lift in our offices.
request an appointmentWhat Is The Y Lift?
The Y Lift gets its name from the Y shape that is the hallmark of a youthful face, where the face is wide at the top at the eyes and cheekbones, and narrows to a point at the chin. As we age and our skin and muscles descend, we lose the upper width and gain sagging tissue in our cheeks and around our chin.
The Y Lift is a facelift alternative that uses hyaluronic acid dermal fillers injected through a specialized titanium cannula to restore facial contours without surgery or recovery time. The key innovation of the Y Lift is the cannula, which allows FNP. Ginsberg to place the dermal filler deeper and with more precision.
You could compare the Y Lift with other liquid facelift options you may have heard about, but the difference is in the depth of the filler placement, creating a true lift that lasts from 2-3 years.
How Is The Y Lift Performed?
When fillers are usually injected, the goal is local, such as the filling of a wrinkle or crease, or adding some volume to the cheeks or lips. Fillers injected in this way restore plumpness to the targeted area.
The Y Lift seeks far broader restoration. Typical changes with a Y Lift involve cheek augmentation, softening of the nose to mouth lines, and lifting the mouth to improve and contour the jawline. This is accomplished by placing the hyaluronic acid beneath the muscle, rather than simply under the skin.
FNP. Ginsberg first marks the areas of the face that she seeks to target. She then injects the hyaluronic acid filler, usually Juvederm, using the specialized titanium cannula. This special instrument is what makes the Y Lift unique. It creates a very small hole in the skin, but allows FNP. Ginsberg to reach below the muscle and more precisely place the filler. Because the filler is placed under the muscle, this allows much more filler to be used. This allows cheek augmentation and true definition can be returned to the jawline.
After FNP. Ginsberg deeply injects the filler, the next step is to massage the area to shape and move it. She basically sculpts the restored cheeks and jawlines. This makes the Y Lift completely customized to each patient, adapting to everyone’s unique contours.
This is all done in a short amount of time right in our Bedford offices. You could call it a lunchtime facelift.
How Is A Y Lift Different From A Surgical Facelift?
Both procedures seek to return skin and muscle to its former higher position on the face. In a surgical facelift, this is done by making incisions, lifting away the skin, adjusting the underlying muscles and support tissues, and then re-draping the skin and cutting away excess. Obviously, all of this tissue trauma causes serious swelling and bruising, and makes for months of recovery time.
The Y Lift uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to achieve some of the same rejuvenation. But it does so simply through injections of the filler beneath the muscles, lifting and restoring higher contour. This reduces sagging and erases wrinkles and creates. It elevates the face into its former Y shape.
What Are The Benefits Of A Y Lift?
The Y Lift is completely non-invasive, so you have none of the swelling, pain, bruising, and lengthy recovery of a surgical facelift. You can resume most of your normal activities immediately after you leave our offices.
Plus, this isn’t simple plumping as in a “liquid facelift,” the Y Lift removes sagging skin around the jawline and brings it back up onto the cheeks, where it used to be. It’s amazing to see the changes in the cheeks and the contour of the jaw in our patients.
The Y Lift doesn’t provide the decade of results usually delivered by a surgical facelift, but it does provide a dramatic lift for up to 2-3 years without any of the serious drawbacks of a traditional facelift.
What Risks Are Involved With The Y Lift?
Because FNP. Ginsberg uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler for these procedures, there are few risks. This is because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body whose job it to hydrate, plump, and firm the skin.
Common side effects are slight bruising and swelling at the injection sites.
If I Don’t Like The Look, Can A Y Lift Be Reversed?
That’s another great benefit of this non-surgical facelift. If, for some reason, you don’t like the look, hyaluronic acid fillers can be instantly neutralized by simply injecting an enzyme into the same location. This completely breaks down the filler.
If you don’t like how a surgical facelift left your face, you’re stuck with it.
How Long Is The Recovery After A Y Lift?
There is no recovery. As noted, you may have some swelling and bruising around your cheeks and chin, but you can return to normal activities immediately.
How Much Does A Y Lift Cost?
The price of your Y Lift with FNP. Ginsberg depends completely on the amount of dermal filler used. Once FNP. Ginsberg sees the amount of correction your particular situation requires, she can give you a good idea of the cost. She can do this at your consultation.
