Many of us have a little extra fat under our chins that make our faces look bigger, and make us look heavier than we actually are. This is especially true for people who have a genetic predisposition for under-chin fat, or a double-chin. But, don’t let that little extra chin take over how people see your face. If diet and exercise aren’t helping you lose that chin, keep reading to learn about a life-changing, non-surgical option: Kybella.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is a fairly new procedure that uses a cosmetic injectable instead of a surgical procedure to help remove unwanted fat from underneath the chin. Kybella’s active ingredient is deoxycholic acid, which helps your body break down stubborn fat under the chin, and helps you keep it away. The solution is injected at the desired site, where it goes to work helping break down fat without the need for Liposuction or other invasive surgery.
Who is a good candidate?
If you have a genetic predisposition towards under-chin fat, eat well and exercise (yet still have that stubborn double-chin), or simply are bothered by the fat under your chin, you are likely a good candidate for Kybella.
The procedure is straightforward and short. A series of injections are given across the site over a short appointment. The solution then starts going to work breaking down fat cells. Your body starts to whisk them away, and your lymph system can get rid of them with other waste.
Note, you may have some swelling initially after the treatment is completed. “Bullfrog Neck” can be common, and it simply means that the solution is working its magic.
How until I see results?
After your first treatment, you will likely have swelling that peaks around 24 hours after your injections. This swelling may last a few days or a few weeks. This is because the solution is breaking down the fat cells and encouraging them to leave! You may see the best results a few months after your treatments. How many treatments are suggested?
Multiple visits may be required to see the best results. Overall, expect at least two treatments to see the best results from your Kybella.
